With the New Year comes new goals. It is a tradition to set resolutions each year that will help you become a better person. The New Year has always been a time to reflect on the past and the changes you should make, and to find the resolve to follow through on those changes. Resolutions can be difficult, but you can overcome those challenges if you approach those goals with a Black Belt attitude.
Black Belts have the character to guide them in the right direction. They are loyal, hard working and committed to their goals and responsibilities. If they weren’t, then they would not have reached the level of Black Belt. That is why Black Belts are so respected; they are the best role models for anyone to follow.
If you haven’t yet determined your New Year’s resolutions for 2007, then read the following resolutions and resolve to achieve them like a Black Belt.
Resolution 1: Spend more time with family and close friends.
It’s easy to forget how important your family and friends are if, for instance, you’re more attracted to the latest technology. As you spend more and more playing computer games and listening to your MP3 player, you have less time for the most important people in your life. Make your first resolution to spend more time with those you love and love you and less time with electronic devices that consume your energy and time. A true Black Belt understands the value of family and friends.
Resolution 2: Eat healthfully.
Studies have shown that eating healthfully reduces the risk of cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It also increases your energy and improves your moods. Consuming foods that are high in sugars and fats actually decrease your energy levels, which leads to bad health, lack of motivation and a poor attitude. A Black Belt understands that eating healthfully is the secret ingredient to martial arts excellence!
Resolution 3: Exercise regularly.
Regular exercise has been proven to increase health, dramatically. Regular exercise builds strength and develops muscle tone necessary to be a great martial artist. You must be committed to exercise to realize its benefits. Setting reasonable goals and staying focused are the two key success elements of this resolution. Black Belts know this well, which is why they are such great martial artists.
If these three New Year’s resolutions are not on your list of goals, then you are not focused on what is most important in your life: love, friendship and health. Black Belts understand the value of these resolutions and why they require conscious effort to improve the quality of their lives. If you’re ready for a Black Belt challenge, then these resolutions should be on your list every year.
